I bet your children are delighted with him, too, which must be nice to see.

Glad to see that things are looking up.

I've had big dogs all my life. I never even thought of having a small dog. Well that has sure changed. Last June my wife surprised me. I got home from playing one night and there was a furry little creature in our bed. She has absolutely captured my heart, wrapped my wife around her little paws, and my German Shepherd protects her like a big brother should. She looks to be about the size of Teddy.
By the way, my little girl Roxie thinks Teddy's HOT!

Tell Roxie I have bad news , both are neutered...... Teddy is still intrested though if no pups are a deal breaker.

A two fer!
I knew you were going back, you big softie. I'm happy for all of you. That kind of stuff breaks my heart too. Sarah McLaughlin does a commercial that's aired on tv around here about helping homeless animals and I have to turn away when it comes on, the images are so sad. When my time comes, if my wife is gone before me, since I have no children, I intend to leave whatever I have to organizations caring for homeless critters and those that provide companion and seeing eye dogs.

I know I know.........

Thing is I work about 60 hours a week so I need to know these guys are being taken care of without driving my wife nuts you know? Not fair to them if thier needs are not being met. 6 yr old isn't much help, but my 11 yr old has promised up and down that they will be walked and looked after.

Great thing about buddy was he had a little litter basket like a cat . I lived on the 6th floor in a building in NYC and I wasn't about to take him down 6 flights everytime nature called you know? So he just went about his buisness and then found a spot on the couch . Really a great dog. Now these guys are quite different. Teddy's buisness is about the size of buddy. I don't give animals back. They are adopted and home for good. I just hope my son lives up to his side of the bargain.

When I find them, I will post them here for you, but until then, here is a portrait of her, drawn by my cousin Gillian (she is an architect, and her drawings are incrediby realistic).

Yes, French Bulldog, good guess!
Unfortunately we just found out after a hefty vet bill that Max has a congenital back problem with some messed up discs. Good thing we have VPI pet insurance!
Good dog, though, turning into a very good companion, though stubborn as hell.
Allan.

Good companion. cool. Thats when I really Miss buddy the most. He was almost human in the way he communicated with me. Teddy and Jolly are still puppies and are a handfull . I look forward to getting through a movie without the both of them rolling around on the ground in a ball. Having a Ton a fun with them but it takes a while to build a connection you know?

My Brittany was that way. She was a bit too smart, always knew what I was talking about and did as I said but not until she was damn good and ready.

Oh! I know this! I do the same thing, I can't bear to watch that commercial, it's so heartbreaking to look at.

Congrats Al, on the new furry friend. Dogs are the best!

And rescue is great too. I went a number of years without a dog, mostly from living in apartments, it's too much of a hassle trying to find a place if you have a pet, etc. So when my girlfriend and I bought a house, I went looking.
I decided the breed I liked best and suited us best were Border Terriers.
I would have liked a puppy like most people, but the cost made them prohibitive for us, so we started looking at rescue. Usually though, you end up finding older dogs, but that's good too, giving a home to an older dog that needs a home - puppies and younger dogs can get homes easily, but older dogs......not so easy.

Our first was 10 when we got him. When he passed away, we adopted two, a brother and sister (10 years old) that had been together forever and rescue didn't want to separate. Last year, when Zipper (the girl) passed away, we adopted another one, although this one is the youngest we've adopted from a rescue at 4 years old - she was rescued from a puppy mill.

Okay, guess I've rambled off, anyway, congrats again Al on the new addition to the family!
