Default Anyone in the market for a Matchless Chieftain?

My boy Owen, out in LA, has been jonesing like crazy on a Sixties SG Junior - one of the ones with the P90s, which he says sound like nothing else on this earth. He's so keen to buy one, he's selling one of his favourite amps to fund the purchase... his late 90s Mark Sampson-era Matchless Chieftain.

This is a great amp - I loved it so much when he had it over here that I ended up getting one of my own shipped from California. These days, Owen is on a huge retro binge and nothing but his late 60s Laney Supergroup will hit the spot, so he's prepared to let this beauty go to fund his SG. Not cheap, but well worth the money IMO.

It's advertised on Craigslist at the moment... here's the link.

Holy crap dude, that price is ridiculously low. It should be double that.

Sampson-era Chieftain = jaw-shatteringly amazing tone.

Cool color too.

Your son is going to be kicking himself for decades.

I agree - but I think he's banking on Purple Melon hitting the jackpot fairly soon (it could happen - they're being chased by two very big record companies at the moment) The other thing, of course, is that if he gets too overcome with regrets, I guess he'll just come back to the UK and try to nick mine!

FWIW, I did try to dissuade him from selling when I was out there in September, but he's got his heart set on an old SG... he keeps sending me links to eBay auctions!!!

Anyone got one they fancy swapping, perchance?
