About Old School Guitar

Philosophy: Old School Guitar (OSG) is not a site about vintage instruments, although we will certainly have lots of conversation about them. Rather, it was named for the philosophy that I have in my own life and for the kinds of music that I happen to be passionate about. Plain and simple, I am "old school" in how I treat people, what I expect from other people, and in the kinds of music that appeal to me. I played professionally in the early 1970s during a time when musicians seemed to share more of a common bond than exists today. They didn't speak badly about each other, were willing to help other musicians improve their skills when asked questions, and they seemed to understand that the gear they used was only a part of their sound. They understood that great music was created by a combination of musical skills and selecting the right gear to produce the tone they wanted......and there was FAR less gear back then than exists today! I remain an idealist who believes that a musician discussion website can be run with the concept of mutual respect between participants, regardless of whether a member has platinum recordings to their credit or is just beginning their journey as a musician. If you can't be respectful of others, even when you disagree with them, your ability to participate on OSG will be ended!

OSG is likely going to be of more interest to people who prefer musical genres like blues, jazz, funk and old-school rock. These happen to be my personal passions and I wanted to create an online community of musicians who have similar tastes in the music they love. OSG is here for YOU! Please take the time to read our rules......there aren't that many. If you can function within those rules, this website will be a comfortable place to spend time. If you can't or don't want to follow our rules, there are other websites that would be better for you to participate in.

Thanks!...........Brian Scherzer/Aspen Music, LLC
